What We Treat
Mental Health Counseling
in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Whatever brought you here, you are not the first person to carry it.
Our counselors work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families across a wide range of concerns. Each of us carries different training, which is why we ask what you are working through before matching you with someone. Start below with whatever sounds closest to your situation.

Do I need to know what is wrong before I call?
Most people do not arrive with a label. They arrive knowing something is harder than it used to be, that a relationship has gone quiet, that a child seems to be struggling, or that they are tired in a way sleep does not fix. Putting language to it is part of the work, not a requirement for starting it.
The categories below are here to help you find your footing on this page, nothing more. Counseling at Redemption is built around the person sitting in the room rather than the heading their concern falls under, and most people bring more than one thing through the door anyway.

Three Ways To Work With Us
Everything above is what we help with.
This is how that help is actually delivered, and one of the three is not counseling at all.
Ongoing
Counseling
A standing appointment with one counselor, usually weekly to start and spaced out as things settle. The approach is chosen for what you are working through, whether that means EMDR, Story Work, CBT, ACT, the Gottman Method, or a mix of them.

Mental Health Assessments
A structured look at what is going on, used when symptoms are tangled enough that guessing is not good enough. Results clarify the picture and shape the plan, and your counselor sits down and walks you through what they mean in plain language.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I have been to counseling before and it did not help?
Worth telling us in that first conversation. Fit, timing, and approach all matter, and a poor match on any one of them can make counseling feel useless even when nothing was wrong with you. Knowing what did not work last time helps us choose a different counselor, a different method, or both.
How long do people usually stay in counseling?
There is no set number. Some people come for a few months to work through one thing. Others stay longer because ongoing support is what they want. Most start weekly and space sessions out as things steady. You and your counselor review it together as you go, and stopping is always your call.
What is the difference between an LPC, an LCSW, and a therapist?
Mostly the training path. An LPC completes a master’s in counseling. An LCSW comes through clinical social work. Both are licensed to provide therapy in Oklahoma, and counselor and therapist are used interchangeably here. What matters more than the letters is which approaches someone is trained in and how you feel sitting with them.
Can my spouse and I see different counselors here?
Yes, and plenty of families do. Seeing different counselors in the same practice means you each get someone suited to you without coordinating between two offices. Your sessions stay confidential person to person, so attending the same practice does not mean your counselors compare notes about you.
Will I get a diagnosis?
Not automatically. Counseling is often useful without one, and plenty of people never need a formal diagnosis. When symptoms are tangled enough that clarity would change the plan, your counselor may suggest an assessment and will walk you through what the results mean. Nothing gets decided about you without you in the room.
