Where faith is welcome in the room
Christian Counseling in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Licensed counseling, with as much or as little faith in it as you want.
Our name reflects a Christian foundation, and we warmly welcome individuals, couples, and families from all backgrounds and beliefs. If you want faith to be part of your counseling, your counselor can bring Biblical principles, prayer, and Scripture into the work. If you would rather they did not, the care is the same evidence-based counseling without it. You decide where that line sits, and you can move it at any point.
Why we chose the name
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.
Ephesians 1:7
Redemption is the word our practice is built on. It is an invitation here, never a requirement. Clients of every background and belief are welcome.
Clinical care and faith, in the same room
What Christian Counseling Looks Like Here
Maybe you want a counselor who understands why your faith matters to you. Maybe you have already sat across from someone who treated it as a problem to work around, or from someone who handed you a verse when what you needed was real clinical help. Either one can make a person hesitant to try again.
At Redemption Counseling, those two things are not competing. Your counselor is licensed in Oklahoma and trained in evidence-based approaches, and for clients who want it, they can also pray with you, work through Scripture together, and talk openly about where God fits into what you are carrying.
How much of that is in the room is your call. You can ask for more of it, or less, and you can change your mind in the middle of a season without having to explain yourself.

How Faith Fits Into Your Counseling Sessions
Clients ask for very different things here, and all three of these are normal. None of them is the more serious version of counseling.
01
Faith stays outside the work
Some people come to us for the counselors, not the name. Your sessions are ordinary evidence-based counseling, and nobody will bring faith into the room unless you do. You will not be preached at, and you will not be asked what you believe.
02
Faith comes up when you bring it
Faith is part of your life, so it shows up the way the rest of your life does. Your counselor can follow it when it matters to what you are working on, and leave it alone the rest of the time.
03
Faith is woven through the work
You want Scripture, prayer, and a Christian framework to be part of the counseling itself. Your counselor can integrate Biblical principles into the approach, alongside the clinical work rather than in place of it.
Most people do not know which of these they want on the first day, and that is completely normal.
Your counselor will ask, and will keep asking as the work goes on. Nothing here is a commitment you have to hold to.
The same care, whatever you believe
What Our Christian Counselors Help With
Christian counseling is not a separate list of problems. It is the same counseling our team does every day, with room for your faith in it.
People come to us carrying anxiety, grief, a marriage that has gone quiet, a history they have never said out loud, or harm that happened inside a church. Faith can be part of how we work through any of it, and it does not have to be.

A common reason people call us
When the Hurt Came
From the Church
Church hurt is one of the harder things to bring to a counselor. Take it to someone outside the faith and you may spend the session explaining what a church even is. Take it back to the church and you may be asked to move on before you are ready.
Our founder, Kristi Patovisti, has a particular passion for this work. You will not be asked to defend your faith here, and you will not be asked to walk away from it either. What you still believe, and what you want to do about the people involved, stays yours to work out on your own timeline.
It is not disloyal to say out loud that something hurt you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can my spouse and I do marriage counseling with faith included?
Yes. Marriage counseling, relationship counseling, and premarital counseling are all part of what we do, and faith can be part of any of them. Our founder is certified in the Gottman Method for couples, and another of our counselors works extensively with couples on communication, conflict, and rebuilding trust.
What approaches do your counselors use alongside faith?
Depending on which counselor you see, that can include CBT, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, attachment-based work, Story Work, and the Gottman Method for couples. Faith does not replace any of it. It sits alongside the clinical training your counselor already brings to the room.
Do you counsel children and teens?
Yes. Our founder is certified in special education in Oklahoma and has specialized training in mild to moderate autism spectrum disorder, and parenting guidance and school-related concerns are part of what the team handles. Faith can be part of a young client’s counseling in the same way, if that is what your family wants.
Is there anything you do not treat?
Yes, and we would rather tell you up front than take you on and do it poorly. Severe eating disorders need specialty certification we do not have, and we refer those to Laureate. If what you bring is outside what our training covers, we will say so and point you toward someone equipped for it.
Do you offer anything besides counseling sessions?
Yes. We provide mental health assessments when they are clinically appropriate, to clarify symptoms and guide an individualized treatment plan, and your counselor reviews the results with you. We also offer training sessions and continuing education partnerships for organizations serving the Oklahoma mental health community.
